Time for a confession. I used to have the biggest crush on Cassie (no kidding!) The moment I saw her video “Me & U” , an instant fan. Even before the song went on to the number three spot on Billboard hot 100 in 2006 and remained in top 40 for almost five months, would you believe? Well, what else to expect from a Ryan Leslie‘s discovery.

I knew, she had something special about her.  Well, nobody’s perfect right? She had initial setbacks in 2007 when she started working on her sophomore album, which is in the works ever since.

You guessed it right, the wait is almost over. If sources are to believe, Cassie is finally aiming for a summer 2013 release. To keep the fire burning until the release, she just revealed a new track titled “Numb” featuring the Maybach Music Mogul “Rick Ross” which is going to make an appearance on her upcoming debut mixtape titled “#RockaByeBaby“. RockaByeBaby drops April 11 featuring Meek Mill, Wiz Khalifa, Pusha T, French Montana, Too $hort, Fabolous, Jeremih, and Ester Dean, plus production from Mike WiLL Made It, James Fauntleroy, Rob Holladay, Da Internz, and Young Chop.

“This mixtape is about more than just music, it’s about the art, the visuals and the people,” said Cassie. “I wanted to release RockaByeBaby to show my appreciation to the supporters that have been there from day one and always believed in me and my art. My goal was to make a tape that you could vibe too and that people could enjoy from the beginning until the end. I want this to be what you listen to when you need to escape.

Cassie was kind enough to drop the official tracklist via her twitter account. I am really feeling the overall production value on this track. With a laid back vibe, you could smoke a joint too. Took me a while, but found an un-official stream to the latest track. However, watch this space for further updates once the mixtape hits the Internet.
