This post supposed was supposed to happen, well a healthy, week back or so. However, it’s my inclination towards a certain real-life priorities made me look like a total jackass around the music review/blogging sphere. But, one thing’s for sure – it’s never too late to share some good MUSIC!
Which brings me to Alex Metric, a UK based DJ and Electronic music producer. Funk, House and Techno is his bread and butter. Been active since 2008, Alex has collaborated with many a mainstream, underground producers and remixed almost a host of chart thumping numbers. A few of those producers/bands/artists includes the likes of – La Roux, Gorillaz, U2, Depeche Mode, and the Beastie Boys.
His collaboration with Steve Angello, titled “Open Your Eyes” stayed at the #1 spot on BBC Radio 1 A List for 4 weeks in 2011. Not so surprisingly, his rise didn’t go completely unnoticed which eventually garnered him a deal with Skrillex‘s “OWSLA” label in 2012. And, apparently he’s all set to drop a new EP under the label, titled “Ammunition Pt. 3” on April the 2nd.
Alex was kind enough to drop a collaboration between him and Mark Yardley (one half of Stanton Warriors) for our listening pleasure. The track is titled “llium“, which further helps Alex to strengthen his case as one of the most versatile techno/electronic producer in the game, right about now. Right from the 0:00, you start to feel the vibe that this is going to be a much an insane ride for the next 4:57 Mins. And it gets interesting on about 0:55 to 1:01, where bass kicks in. It’s an outstanding work, to say the least. There are a couple of nice drops in the track and it surprises you even more with the kind of sound he and Mark are trying to achieve on the track, here. And most importantly, it makes you want to lose and dance to the groove, endlessly. I have been replaying the shit out of #soundcloud stream to listen to this track over and over again. It’s that addictive.
Well, without further adieu – I got the official stream for your listening pleasure, down below. And, don’t forget to cop that EP, cause it’s hitting the iTunes/Beatport on 2nd.
